AdTec, short for Advanced Technology Footwear started in 1982 with a simple idea, make better boots for people who actually need them.

Arnold Duan and Dick Montville came from different sides of the business. Arnold had experience in manufacturing and sourcing, working out of California. Dick spent years in the Midwest, working closely with retailers and understanding what customers were really looking for in a boot.

They saw the same problem from both ends: good boots were either too expensive, or not built to last. So they set out to build something better, boots that were dependable, comfortable, and fairly priced.

From the beginning, AdTec was built as a family business. No shortcuts, no overcomplication, just listening to the people wearing the boots and making improvements where it mattered. Farmers, ranchers, and tradespeople helped shape the early products, and the Midwest became the foundation of the brand.

As the company grew, that approach stayed the same. We worked closely with our manufacturing partners, focused on better materials, and paid attention to real-world feedback. That’s how products like the Urbanite Series came to life. Built to handle modern job sites without losing the comfort and quality people expect.

Today, AdTec is still family-owned, with the next generation carrying things forward. The goal hasn’t changed. Make good boots, price them honestly, and stand behind what we build.
