AdTec, short for Advanced Technology Footwear, started in 1982 with a simple idea: make solid boots for the people who wear them every day.

Arnold Duan and Dick Montville came from different sides of the business. Arnold focused on manufacturing and sourcing, while Dick spent years working with retailers throughout the Midwest and seeing firsthand what customers wanted from their footwear.

They kept running into the same issue, boots were either expensive, uncomfortable, or didn’t hold up the way they should. So they decided to build something practical: dependable boots at a reasonable price.

From the beginning, AdTec's was a family business. A lot of the early direction came from conversations with farmers, ranchers, and tradespeople who wore the boots every day and weren’t shy about giving honest feedback.

As the company grew, the process stayed pretty much the same. Pay attention to what works, improve what doesn’t, and focus on making products people can rely on. Over time, that approach shaped newer products and collections designed for changing work environments and everyday use.

Today, AdTec is still family-owned, with the next generation continuing the business. The goal hasn’t changed much over the years. Make good boots, keep prices fair, and treat people right.

That’s really where the company comes from, and it’s still how we operate today.
